Needle Felted Pet Portraits
Capture the personality of a beloved companion in this two-day Needle Felted Pet Portrait Workshop! Participants will learn to build a simple wire armature before sculpting and refining it with wool through the art of needle felting. You’ll explore techniques for creating realistic proportions, expressive features, and lifelike textures while adding the unique markings and details that make your pet instantly recognizable. Bring several clear reference photos of your chosen pet, and leave with a handcrafted wool sculpture that celebrates them. Some prior needle felting experience is recommended, as this workshop builds on basic felting techniques and focuses on sculptural form and realistic detail. .Age 18 and up.
Instructor:
Margie Manogue-Lillich is a multimedia artist and educator based in Ukiah, California with over 25 years of experience in the arts. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Crafts from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and works primarily in needle-felted and fabric maché sculpture, creating narrative works that often feature animals and explore themes of ecology, storytelling, and place.
Through her studio practice and her teaching, she is committed to cultivating curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of the arts in the next generation of makers.
