Big Mountain originated in 1986 as the reggae band Rainbow Warriors in San Diego. In 1988, Joaquin “Quino” McWhinney, inspired by Bob Marley and of Mexican/Irish descent, became lead singer of Shiloh, which later became Big Mountain in 1991. The band gained popularity with “Touch My Light” in 1993 and achieved mainstream success with their cover of “Baby, I Love Your Way,” which became a major hit worldwide. Over the years, Big Mountain underwent several lineup changes and appeared at major reggae festivals. After a hiatus starting in 2005, the band reformed in 2013 with a new lineup and released the album Perfect Summer in 2016.
