Join Ukiah Branch Library staff as we host author events in-person on the third Saturdays of each month at 3 p.m. This free event is open to both teens and adults. All are invited to share poems in any form or style or just listen to others. On December 20, 2025, we present a special LOBA featuring local author, Susanna Janssen. Janssen will read from her new book, “Once Upon a Continent: A Memoir of South American Adventures Unplugged.”

Janssen is a wordsmith, world explorer, and lifelong language enthusiast. Early in her teaching career, she traveled throughout South America for four months, an experience that transformed her into a master teacher and has shaped her life ever since. A retired college professor turned dynamic language coach, she teaches Spanish and Italian, helping learners unlock fluency with flair. As the founder of NOVELAS EN ESPAÑOL, she creates immersive resource packages that turn the reading of authentic Spanish novels into accessible, engaging journeys for language learners.
