Monthly Poet Features & Open Mic

Join Ukiah Branch Library staff as we host poetry events in-person on the third Saturdays of each month at 3 p.m. This free event is open to both teens and adults. All are invited to share poems in any form or style or just listen to others. On March 21, 2026, we welcome Michelle Peñaloza!
Michelle Peñaloza is the author of “All the Words I Can Remember Are Poems” (Persea, 2025), winner of the 2024 Lexi Rudnitsky Editor’s Choice Award and the James Laughlin Award, awarded by The Academy of American Poets. Michelle serves on the board of the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference and as affiliate faculty at Antioch University’s low-residency MFA. The proud daughter of Filipino immigrants, Michelle was born in the suburbs of Detroit, MI and raised in Nashville, TN. She now lives in Covelo, CA.
