The Ukiah Branch Library staff invites the community to join us for a workshop series that will bring local homesteaders to the library to share their knowledge in six bimonthly hands-on workshops. We will explore topics on gardening in small spaces in the “Adaptation Gardening” way – worm bins, fermented foods and beverages, acorns and indigenous foodways, pollinator gardens, and sourdough bread making.
Jen Lyon, the Ukiah Branch Seed Librarian, will lead the second workshop in this series on April 6 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Get ready to get your hands dirty in this workshop, as Jen will cover basic small-scale composting and lead a hands-on demonstration of how to make a low-cost worm bin. Workshop participants will work in teams to make a few worm bins that some lucky attendees can take home, but all participants will take away the knowledge to make their own worm bins.
These workshops are free to the public, and reservations are required. Call 707-463-4490 to reserve your spot. This event is for participants 12 years and up, and all materials will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Ukiah Valley Friends of the Library and Mendocino County Library.
