LOBA POETRY SERIES
Monthly Poet Features & Open Mic
Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 3 PM
Join Ukiah Branch Library staff as we host poetry events in-person on the third Saturday of each month at 3 p.m. This free event is open to both teens & adults – all are invited to share poems in any form or style, or just listen to others. On May 18, 2024, we welcome Amie Whittemore.
Whittemore is the author of the poetry collections “Glass Harvest” (Autumn House Press), “Startent: A Triptych” (Tolsun Books), and “Nest of Matches” (Autumn House, 2024). She was the 2020-2021 Poet Laureate of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. Her poems have won multiple awards, including a Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Prize, and her poems and prose have appeared in The Gettysburg Review, Nashville Review, Smartish Pace, Pleiades, and elsewhere. She teaches creative writing at Eastern Illinois University and serves as director of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Write, a fromhome creative writing mentorship program.
