Funkacillin offers up a healthy dose of funk, easing into a bit of soul, rock, Afro-jazz and R & B, but always with the cure for your funk deficiency! Composed of a group of five Mendocino County musicians and one from Berkeley, Funkacillin adds essential and intricate Afro-Cuban rhythms to their soulful and funky grooves to keep you on the dance floor. James Brown once said, “The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing”, and Funkacillin aim to put your troubles on the back burner with a mix of originals and old school funk, rock and soul by heavy hitters including The Isley Brothers, James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder, as well as a few slightly more obscure artists such as Gabin, The Dramatics and Sugarloaf, that will have you flashin’ back to the days of paisley prints and platform shoes to get your booty shakin’!
The band features Cherie Sheraque on vocals, Jim Dooley on trumpet and keys, Yanahay Hooper on bass, Tyler Balthrop on guitar, Phil Montalvo on percussion and Keith Feigin on drums.
