SPACE Performing Arts Theater
SPACE/Near and Arnold’s School of Performing Arts and Cultural Education trains its young students in dance, theater, and music and produces shows throughout the year. 508 W. Perkins Street, Ukiah. Ukiah Players Theater
Founded in 1977, Ukiah Players Theatre’s productions include classic drama, contemporary plays and even original local works. The Ukiah Playhouse serves as a training ground for performers, directors, playwrights and technicians, and houses a theatre that nurtures an intellectual and spiritual vitality within the community. 1041 Low Gap Road, Ukiah. Led by musical director, Les Pfutzenreuter, the Ukiah Symphony is now in its 32nd season. Performances primarily take place at the Mendocino College Center Theater or SPACE Theater in Ukiah and feature some of the best-known classics of all time. The area's only dance company with performance opportunities for the serious dancer featuring classical and contemporary ballet as well as children's story ballets. "The Nutcracker" is performed each December in Ukiah and showcases local children and adult performers alongside members of the Mendocino Ballet Company.
An active Outreach Program with performances in the spring, introduces dance history and the many health benefits of dance movement to the community and schools. Just north of Ukiah, Mendocino College’s renowned Theatre Arts and Music departments work closely together to train and educate students in acting, dance and voice.
