Dining and Nightlife

Start Feeling Special

Ukiah has lots of great places to check out on your visit, but we thought you might find these especially great!

The reputation for food in Ukiah just keeps getting better. And, our restaurant options continue to grow by the month. Speaking of growth, many of our restaurants proudly serve local, organically-grown produce, meats and, of course, wines. In Ukiah, we were organic before organic was cool. When you can enjoy a Zagat-acclaimed restaurant down the street from the second certified organic restaurant in California, you know you have a food scene that can only be described as eclectic. And delicious.

Some of our favorites in downtown Ukiah include Patrona Restaurant & Lounge with its beautiful upscale interior and casual sidewalk tables outside. Here you will enjoy seasonal, locavore-style California cuisine and a local wine list from heaven. Or try Chop Chop, their less-formal Asian fusion restaurant, just a couple doors down the street. Another great choice is Oco Time, where you can savor sushi and variations of its signature egg and noodle dish—the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. Or go organic and fantastic with the newly revitalized Ukiah Brewing Company & Restaurant, long a cornerstone of downtown Ukiah nightlife, featuring plenty of live music.

For satisfying breakfasts and casual lunches, Schat’s Bakery & Café makes its delicious breads, pastries, sandwiches, salads and soups from scratch daily. Another Standley Street favorite is Saucy, where Neapolitan style, wood-fired pizzas are the specialty and guests can choose from 15 craft-brewed beers on tap or an exciting list of wines on tap. If great vegan/vegetarian food to grab on the go is what you're after, don't miss Taste Buds, just a short hop away at 405 S. State Street.

Cool music, great wine, hip cocktails and hot places to relax after hours are all part of Ukiah’s unique nightlife scene. Each week, and especially on weekends, there are a variety of live performances taking place.

Several downtown businesses host live music regularly, and their events are posted on our event calendar. On the same calendar, you're likely to find comedy shows, outdoor movies in the Plaza, and more. You might also want to check out Mendocino Brewing Company for a game of pool or darts, or just wind down with a cocktail at Patrona.

For more live music and festivities, check out The Office, located above an authentic Italian restaurant.

If you time it right, your visit will coincide with a home match of the Mendo Mahem, Ukiah’s own women’s roller derby team. With skaters like Jailbreak Jo Jo and Chico Boom, the excitement of a Mendo Mayhem match is truly unparalleled. Click here to check out the action.

Our local bowling alley, Yokayo Bowling Center, also hosts a newly remodeled sports bar and lounge and features live entertainment several times each month. For more information, click here.

And, with 24-hour gaming, dining and special events, you’ll want to try your luck at one of the two local casinos. For more information and their event schedules, go to www.coyotevalleycasino.com and www.shokawah.com.

Be sure to check out our entire Event Calendar for the latest nightlife and performing arts schedules.
